Tension as Gunmen Enforce Sit-At-Home Order in Imo [PHOTO]

There was tension in major markets within Imo State as gunmen affiliated with pro-Biafra activists based in Finland, led by Simon Ekpa, went on a destructive rampage.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that on Friday night, these armed individuals enforced a sit-at-home order, causing chaos and devastation to the local community.

Among the targeted locations, the Orie Amaraku market in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area suffered the most severe consequences.

A viral video capturing the incident depicted the gunmen violently attacking traders and residents in the area.

They set vehicles and properties ablaze, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

The hoodlums showed no mercy as they vandalised shops, vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, and other objects within their reach.

It appears that the attackers aimed to enforce compliance with their one-week-long directive to stay away from the market, as a voice in the video warned the people of Amaraku against disobeying their orders and urged them to remain in their houses.

Although no fatalities were reported, numerous individuals attempting to escape the violence suffered various degrees of injuries.

This newspaper learnt that the police spokesperson in the State, Henry Okoye confirmed the incident but added that security had been provided to avoid unrest.
