A journalist with Abubakar Rimi Television station (ARTV), Naziru Idris Ya’u, has been hit by a stray bullet at the Kano State Government House.
The incident happened on Friday evening, May 3, 2024 while Naziru was spending time with friends at the Government House premises.
Naziru said he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his arm. On checking, he saw a bullet lodged in his arm and realised he had been shot.
“It seemed to come from a distance as it was cool to the touch,” Naziru recounted.
Naziru managed to extract the bullet himself before receiving urgent medical attention at the Government House clinic. Fortunately, his injury was minor, and after receiving necessary treatment and medication, he was discharged to return home.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Police Command, alongside authorities at the Government House, has launched a thorough investigation to ascertain the source of the gunshot and unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
