Tension in Oyo as Police officer allegedly kills WAEC candidate, details emerge

One of the candidates sitting for the ongoing West African Examination has been allegedly killed by the Police in Oyo State.

It was gathered that the candidate who is yet to be identified was hit by a stray bullet shot by the police on Tuesday, May 20.

According to eyewitnesses, the candidate was on his way to write his examination when a police officer who was pursuing a vehicle in Ibadan shot and hit the boy.

A video seen by Politics Nigeria showed residents protesting the killing of the boy by the police.

The residents took the body of the boy from the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, to the Oyo State secretariat to inform Governor Seyi Makinde about the incident.

Residents who spoke about the incident said the boy was hit by a bullet from the police officer along Gbagi Market Road in Ibadan.

According to the resident, the WAEC candidate was on his father’s motorcycle when the incident happened.
