Terror Attack: “Thank God Nnamdi Kanu is not in Kuje prison” – Omokri

Reno Omokri, a media aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday said Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), would have been in great danger had the terrorists who attacked Kuje prison, Abuja, on Tuesday night met him there.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Kanu is presently held in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), Abuja, following his rearrest in Kenya in June 2021.

Kanu was accused of various offences in the 15 counts, including treasonable felony and terrorism, offences he allegedly committed in the course of his separatist campaigns.

“Thank God Nnamdi Kanu was not at Kuje prison. Who knows what those terrorists would have done to him as they stormed the prison. You can imagine. They kept a freedom fighter in maximum security with DSS, and left hardened terrorists in Minimum security in Kuje!” Omokri said via a Twitter post.

Gunmen had attacked the Kuje correctional centre, but that normalcy had been restored after security agencies intervened.

Authorities on Wednesday morning promised to make the full details of the attack available soon.
