Popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, is undaunted by several calls for his arrest over his relationship with bandits.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that last week, a civil society group under the aegis of Coalition for Peace In Nigeria (COPIN), called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately arrest Sheikh Gumi over his alleged romance with bandits and terrorists.
In a similar vein, the National Inter-Faith Movement asked security agencies to arrest the preacher and have him explain his relationship with the outlaws.
The call came against the backdrop of the arrest and imminent prosecution by the Department of State Services (DSS) of Gumi’s ally, Tukur Mamu, who negotiated the release of some of the hostages in the March 28, 2022 train attack in Kaduna, where large sums of money reportedly exchanged hands.
But despite the claims against Gumi, the Kaduna-based cleric remains unshaken.
“Alhamdulillahi many people know my actions are borne out of genuine desire to bring pragmatic solution to our problems.
“Yet, we have inherited ready-made enemies of Nigeria, Arewa, Islam, Sunnah and share envies. They will continue to bark like dogs but as an Arab Adage says: ‘the barking of dogs does not harm the clouds’.
“We are not daunted, insha ALLAH, Aluta CONTINUA!
“May Allah protect us all from all evil – apparent and hidden. Amin,” he wrote on his known Facebook page recently.
