‘That’s admirably bold’, ex-minister hails NYSC member threatened for criticising Tinubu

A former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili has described the criticism of the present administration of President Bola Tinubu by a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps, Ushie Rita Uguamaye as bold.

In a couple of posts made on X, Ezekwesili who has been very vocal about the need for good governance and accountability of public officer holders said Uguamaye’s action since her video on the situation in the country went viral is “admirably bold”.

In her first post, Ezekwesili prayed for Nigeria to produce more citizens who would showcase the level of boldness that has been exhibited by the corps member.

She wrote, “May Nigeria produce more daughters and sons like the bold Youth Corp member of NYSC – Raye- who know and courageously use the Power of their Voice to evaluate and give a score of between Terrible and Terrific to our Political and Public Leaders. Amen.”

In her second post on X, the former minister urged Nigerians to take a moment and learn from Uguamaye who she said has given the people a masterclass on “Democracy 101”.

She also said the NYSC member used an evidenced-based approach to score the present administration’s performance since their assumption to office.

She wrote, “Raye was evidenced-based in determining a score of Terrible that she awarded to @officialABAon behalf of all sensible Nigerians who are managing severe hardship in the country. It is remarkable that she articulated her feedback in a manner to achieve maximum and effective delivery of message to @NGRPresident who runs the Nigerian government and thus has a duty for her well-being.”

The minister added that after all the evidence reeled out to the public by Uguamaye, Nigerians must demand accountability from their leaders.

She noted, “That is admirably bold, I must say. Truly and remarkably bold. To demand Accountability from public leaders is both a Constitutional right and duty of every citizen. Raye has just taught all Citizens of Nigeria , “Democracy 101”. We all better learn.”

Recall that Uguamaye had been summoned by officials of the NYSC after the video where she criticised the president and lamented over the hardship in the country went viral.

However, on Monday, March 17, when she visited the NYSC office with her legal team and a former presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, to honour the invitation, the official were absent.
