Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has made it clear that he stands by the state’s current governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for a second term, regardless of his party’s stance.
Fayose, speaking during the commissioning of several completed infrastructure projects in Ado-Ekiti, expressed his admiration for Oyebanji’s leadership and achievements.
Despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fayose dismissed the potential consequences of his decision, saying, “I don’t care what people say about me… Whoever is not pleased should take their party away.”
He stated that Oyebanji’s developmental strides and unity among Ekiti leaders made him worthy of support for re-election.
Fayose’s endorsement came ahead of the 2026 governorship election, with all former governors of Ekiti, according to him, rallying behind Oyebanji for a second term due to his excellent performance.
Governor Oyebanji, on his part, pointed out his administration’s efforts in connecting over 40 towns to the national grid and boosting local economies through infrastructure projects.
