Mustafa Sulaiman, a Nigerian Football Association registered referee, has reportedly been struck dead by a thunderstorm strike in Niger State.
Politics Nigeria learnt that lightning struck Sulaiman during a friendly football match in the community’s primary and secondary schools’ field.
Sources revealed that the incident happened when it was raining in Madalla town Niger State, while all the footballers and their fans were taking refuge inside the school’s classrooms.
The referee and his assistant (lineman) rushed back to the field, demanding the players join them.
They were only at the centre of the pitch when the thunder struck.
