Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu personally instructed him to visit former President Muhammadu Buhari during his final days on a sickbed in London.
Shettima disclosed this on Wednesday after attending a brief prayer session at the late president’s residence in Daura, Katsina State.
“President Tinubu directed me to visit our late elder statesman, Muhammadu Buhari, on his sickbed in London,” Shettima said. “He was personally pained by the loss.”
The Vice President described Buhari’s death as a profound national tragedy that transcends regional or political boundaries.
“This is not just a loss to the family of Buhari, or the people of Daura, or even Katsina State. It is a major loss to the Nigerian nation and to the African continent at large,” Shettima added.
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023, died in a London clinic on Sunday.
