The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has debunked claims that political officeholders earn outrageous salaries.
Muhammed Shehu, the chairman of RMAFC, revealed to NAN in Abuja on Sunday, September 17.
Shehu said the initial plan to review the salaries of public officeholders by 114 percent has been postponed following current economic challenges.
In his conversation with NAN, Shehu noted that the salary of President Bola Tinubu is less than N1.5 million while ministers earn less than N1 million.
He said:
“I want to disabuse the minds of Nigerians. It is not true that people are getting jumbo salaries.
“I know of an average CBN worker who is not even a director, who earns more than a minister.
“People in NNPC, NCC, ports authority earn huge salaries. What is the salary of a governor? What is the salary of a legislator?”
