“Tinubu gave us a free hand to work, no interferences,” says works minister Dave Umahi

The Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fostering an environment of autonomy and support that has allowed significant strides in Nigeria’s infrastructure development.

In a recent interview on Arise Television, Umahi hailed President Tinubu’s hands-off approach, which he believes has empowered the ministry to execute innovative policies.

“There’s no decision we ever took in the Ministry of Works in terms of new policies to drive his agenda that he ever reversed. It means we have the confidence to drive his agenda,” he said.

The minister also praised Tinubu’s infrastructural expertise, noting his accomplishments during his tenure as Lagos State governor.

“He’s a man of courage and has vast knowledge in infrastructural development. We are lucky to follow a leader who understands that infrastructure is a catalyst for national development,” Umahi added.

Reflecting on his tenure as Ebonyi State governor, Umahi attributed his successes to passion, divine inspiration, and a hands-on approach.

“Most of the projects in Ebonyi State were designed by me, by the inspiration of God,” he said, citing examples like the state’s international airport, malls, and concrete road networks.

Umahi urged Nigerians to move beyond linking government projects to corruption, stressing that commitment to service can yield tangible results.
