Tinubu is Nigeria’s most tolerant leader, says Rep member

Oluwole Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade federal constituency of Osun state in the House of Representatives, has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his second year in office.

Oke, who chairs the house committee on foreign affairs, described Tinubu as “the most civil and tolerant president Nigeria has ever had”.

In a statement issued on Friday, Oke commended Tinubu for upholding the rights of Nigerians, saying the president has shown maturity by allowing dissent without resorting to harassment.

“Despite criticisms from opposition parties, within the All Progressives Congress, and even from his South-West base, no one has been harassed or persecuted—a sharp departure from past administrations,” he said.

He applauded Tinubu’s decision to remove the petroleum subsidy, describing it as an economically courageous move that dismantled vested interests and improved revenue transparency.

He said the action “ensured that public revenues get to the federation account and are fairly distributed in line with the constitution”.

The lawmaker also praised the president’s youth-focused policies, citing the establishment of the Students Loan Fund and the appointment of young Nigerians to ministerial and agency leadership roles.

“No other Nigerian president has matched this feat,” he said.

He said Tinubu’s foreign engagements had repositioned Nigeria on the global stage, referencing the $2.5 billion agricultural investment secured from Brazil.

According to him, Nigeria’s removal from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) debtor list is a clear reflection of restored international confidence.

Oke said the Tinubu administration had demonstrated visionary leadership through its support for peacebuilding, respect for traditional and religious leaders, reforms in security architecture, and non-interference in the work of anti-corruption agencies.

He noted that under Tinubu, Nigerian workers have received wage increases.

“On all fronts—economy, rights, education, diplomacy, security, and governance—Mr. President has delivered and continues to lead with courage and compassion,” he said.
