President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ajuri Ngelale as his special adviser on media and publicity.
Ngelale, who until his new appointment, was the senior special assistant on public affairs in former President Muhammadu Buhari administration, worked in the office of the former vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
Director of information in the Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, made the announcement and revealled that Ngelale’s appointment would commence with immediate effect.
“The President urges him to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the new assignment,” the statement said.
Ngelale’s appointment was announced on the eve of the exit of Dele Alake from the role following his nomination as a minister.
The former spokesperson, Alake, is expected to be among the nominees who will be screened by the Senate on Tuesday, August 1.
Reacting to his appointment in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Monday night, Ngelale said he was “humbled and honoured”.
“I am most humbled and honoured by H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recognition of the need for more hard work ahead as I have been appointed as his Official Spokesperson & Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity. I will give my best as always. I love you all,” he tweeted.
Ngelale was the assistant principal spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the 2023 elections.
He was a staff member of DAAR Communication, owners of AIT and Ray Power, and equally worked at Channels Television.
