The lawmaker representing Akoko North-East/North-West federal constituency of Ondo state in the House of Representatives, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has officially resigned from the green chamber.

Tunji-Ojo will serve as Nigeria’s minister of interior in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

His resignation was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abbas.

Tunji-Ojo’s spokesperson, Mr Babatunde Alao, made a copy of the resignation letter available to journalists Sunday night.

In the letter, Tunji-Ojo confirmed that his resignation was prompted by the appointment to serve as a minister.

The minister-designate expressed his acknowledgement of the critical need for technocrats to contribute their expertise to the advancement and economic development of the nation at this time.

While appreciating President Tinubu for finding him worthy to serve the country in his new role as a minister, Tunji-Ojo said he is prepared to give his best for the renewed hope agenda of the present administration.

Tunji-Ojo is among the 45 ministers appointed by President Tinubu and will be sworn in on Monday.
