Tinubu’s visit to Brazil a chance to rebuild economic, cultural ties — Edun

Minister of Finance, Wale Edun has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing official visit to Brazil as a historic milestone in Nigeria’s international economic relations.

Speaking on Wednesday, Edun said the visit represents a “landmark event” that will reset and strengthen economic and trade ties between Africa’s largest economy and South America’s largest nation.

“A decade ago, trade between Nigeria and Brazil stood at $10 billion, but today it has declined to around $2 billion,” Edun noted.

“This re-engagement with President Lula’s team provides a historic opportunity to restore trade volumes and expand cooperation to reflect the true potential of our two nations.”

Edun stressed that the renewed engagement would be built on deep cultural connections and shared economic interests, expressing optimism that the talks would lead to concrete gains for both countries in the areas of trade, investment, and broader cooperation.

President Tinubu’s visit comes amid efforts by his administration to attract foreign investment, diversify Nigeria’s economy, and strengthen partnerships with key global players.
