A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing the Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere constituency, Simeon Oyeleke, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the lawmaker made the announcement a few weeks after he failed to secure a return ticket in the APC.
Oyeleke said he is exiting the APC due to the failure of the party in Oyo State to uphold justice and equity in dealing with its members, accusing it of failing to uphold the tenets of democracy.
“I am now a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and no more a member of the APC. This is official now. Thousands of my supporters have joined the PDP with me.
“As a matter of fact, the decision was taken together with my supporters. I can’t continue to be in a political party that does not respect democratic tenets and ideals and values my political interest,” Oyeleke said on Wednesday.
