Ahead of the Local government elections scheduled to be held on October 26, the Kano State governor has dissolved all the 44 LG caretaker committee chairmen.
Governor Abba Yusuf dissolved the chairmen of the committees with immediate effect.
A statement issued by Sanusi Bature, the governor’s spokesperson said that the chairmen have all been directed to hand over leadership and every necessary document to their respective Directors of Personnel Management.
The governor was quoted saying, “This dissolution applies to all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors.”
Yusuf also appreciated the committee chairmen for their contribution and dedication to the development of their Local Government Area.
However, the governor’s directive is coming barely seven days after the Kano State House of Assembly approved a two-extension of the chairmen’s tenure.
According to the lawmakers, the extension would help sustain continuity in their various localities.
