An commercial motorcyclist popularly known as Okada rider has been killed by some gunmen who kidnapped the traditional leader of Udo-Eguare, His Royal Highness Friday Ehizojie.
The monarch, sources said was kidnapped by the gunmen at a forest between Ubiaja in Igueben local government area of Edo State.
According to eyewitnesses, the traditional leader was ambushed by the gunmen and kidnapped alongside five other people.
One of the victims of the kidnapper managed to successfully escape from their captivity.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu said he received a report of the incident.
Yamu said that some persons, including the Onogie of Udo-Eguare, and a 21 year old man were abducted by the yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
His words, “He was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle along a lonely path leading to the Community where they were ambushed by unknown persons, in the process the Okada rider was shot dead before the Onogie was abducted.”
The police spokesperson also noted that the commissioner of Police in the state, Betty Otimenyin has deployed a tactical team and some officers of the Mobil Police Force to comb the area of the attack.
The CP also ordered the rescue of the victims and arrest of the criminals who perpetrated the act.
