Tragedy struck in Kaduna State on Thursday, January 30, 2025 as the Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, suddenly slumped and died while attending an event alongside the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
Eyewitnesses say Pate, a senior council member of the Zazzau Emirate and Councillor in charge of Health Related Matters, collapsed unexpectedly and was rushed to Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar Gayan Zaria, where he was confirmed dead.
The Zazzau Emirate Council, through its Media and Publicity Officer, Abdullahi Kwarbai, expressed deep sorrow over his passing.
Emir Bamalli described the late Pate as a hardworking and dedicated leader whose loss leaves a significant void in the Emirate.
His remains were laid to rest at Rimin Dodo on Thursday evening, in accordance with Islamic rites.
