Two killed, seven abducted as Boko Haram attacks on major highway in Borno

Two individuals were killed and seven passengers were abducted along the Maiduguri/Gamboru Ngala road on Saturday as Boko Haram terrorists launched an unprecedented attack on the highway.

The insurgents targeted military checkpoints and set ablaze commercial vehicles, causing substantial losses estimated in the hundreds of millions of naira.

Witnesses reported that the attacks included the burning of commercial vehicles and looting of goods, severely impacting traders and vehicle owners using the route.

Ali Abubakar, a commercial driver, stated that the deteriorating condition of the road has worsened the situation, making it easier for the insurgents to carry out ambushes.

In a related incident, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Mafa confirmed the abduction of seven people, including the driver of a Desert Land Rover, on Friday between Ajiri and Dikwa.

Their current whereabouts remain unknown, and efforts are underway to secure their release.

The attacks have intensified concerns about the security situation in the state.
