Two Police Officers Killed as Lakurawa Terrorists Attack Kebbi Community

Some members of the Lakurawa terrorist group have launched an attack on Natsini village in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing two police officers.

The terrorists were also said to have rustled over 200 cows belonging to a prominent civil servant in the community during the attack which happened on Thursday, January 2.

Sources within the community said the terrorists stormed the village at about 11 pm killing the police officers at a checkpoint along the Augie/Kangiwa road.

The sources also said that the terrorists who attacked the community were over 50 in number.

They invaded the community on their motorcycles, a resident of the village, Abubakar Augie said.

He said, “The Lakurawa were more than 50 on motorcycles; after overpowering the few policemen at the checkpoint, they went to where the cows were kept in his ranch and went away with them.”

Confirming the incident, Aliyu Gulma, the local government chairman said a security meeting is being held over the matter.

He also noted that the state government has directed security agencies to ensure the terrorists are apprehended and the cows are recovered.
