Ukraine President Zelensky Visits International Criminal Court, Seeks Arrest of Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made an unexpected visit to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, where he issued an international arrest warrant for Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the warrant accuses Putin of alleged war crimes committed in Ukraine.

Zelensky had arrived in the Netherlands Wednesday evening after a meeting with Nordic leaders in Finland.

During his first official visit to the Netherlands, Zelensky is scheduled to deliver a speech on Thursday focusing on the topic of “No peace without justice for Ukraine.” He will also hold talks with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren.

On Thursday morning, Zelensky was welcomed by Dutch lawmakers in parliament, where he held discussions with them. It is worth noting that the Netherlands has provided Ukraine with around €1.2 billion (approximately $1.3 billion) in military aid so far to support their efforts against the Russian invasion.
