Some members of the Unknown Gunmen criminal group have set ablaze the country-home of Ifeanyi Ozoemena, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Okigwe council area in Imo State.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the gunmen numbering over seven stormed the PDP candidate’s compound in a Sienna Toyota at about 2 pm on Tuesday and set ablaze the country-home and vehicles of the politician.
Ozoemena narrated: “They struck around 2 pm, set the houses on fire and supervised the burning. The two houses and the properties got destroyed in the attack. They operated unchallenged. I am distraught. This is unfortunate.
“I call on the commissioner of police to intervene. I am grateful that no life was lost. My aged parents were not around when they struck.”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye said he was yet to be briefed about the incident and promised to respond as soon as possible.
