Unknown gunmen attack Oyo police station, kill DCO, one other

Some unknown gunmen on Tuesday night launched a deadly attack on Igangan Police station in Ibarapa North Local Government Area (LGA) of Oyo State.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) and a suspect who was in detention were gunned down while the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), an Inspector and some suspects are in critical condition due to gunshot wounds.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident. He said: “The Commissioner of Police, CP, is on his way to the place. We are already in Oke Ogun as we speak.

Criminal gangs have recently stepped up their assaults despite military operations against their hideouts that are scattered in the vast forests straddling the north and south of Nigeria.
