Some Unknown gunmen have attacked Atani Police Station in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State, killing four people.
POLITICS NIGERIA learnt that the hoodlums invaded the police facility at about 1:30am on Wednesday.
Four policemen, including a female police officer, lost their lives in the shootout that ensued.
Last week, Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, said perpetrators of mindless killings in his state and other Southeast territories were criminals who were sacked by security agencies from their camps in the bush.
He said those who are still in the forest and armed are no longer Biafra agitators but criminals, and would be resisted by the people of the state.
His words: “We have extended the olive branch to all genuine agitators, and made extensive calls for those in the bush to come out and shun criminality.
“How do you explain to any sane mind that ‘responsible citizens’ have elected to pursue a supposed legitimate course adopting criminal strategies of kidnapping, arson and murder? This is despicable, not permissible and against any known law of humanity,” the Governor had said.
Despite the Governor’s efforts to restore peace, the lawbreakers are still launching deadly attacks on security agents and civilians.
