The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has described the killing of 19 hunters in Uromi, Edo State as a senseless violent act that is unacceptable in any society.

Condemning the killings, Akpabio said he is deeply saddened and disturbed by such a gruesome act which should not have a place in society.

In a statement issued by his special assistant on media, Jackson Udom, the Senate president called for a thorough investigation into the incident by relevant security agencies.

He said, “I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the gruesome murder of 16 travellers in Edo State. This senseless act of violence is unacceptable and has no place in our society.”

Also calling for the arrest of the perpetrators of the act, Akpabio said Nigerians must work together to build sustainable peace and unity among each other.

He also condoled with the families of the victims, the governments of Edo and Kano State on the loss while praying to God for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

“As a people, we must work together to promote peace, unity, and understanding among our people. We cannot afford to let such acts of violence divide us or undermine our collective efforts to build a better Nigeria,” the Senate President said.
