The United States has posthumously inducted former Chief of Army Taoreed Lagbaja, into the US Army War College International Hall of Fame.
The US mission in Nigeria announced the honour in a statement on Tuesday.
Lagbaja, who served as Nigeria’s 23rd chief of army staff, was recognised at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) annual convention in Washington, DC.
The mission described the induction as a testament to Lagbaja’s “visionary service” and the strength of the security partnership between both countries.
It said the recognition also underscores ongoing cooperation to advance global peace.
The mission congratulated the Nigerian Army on what it called a “well-deserved” honour.
Lagbaja, from Osun state, died last year, after a period of illness, aged 56.
