Vice President Kashim Shettima has denied rumours about President Bola Tinubu’s health, describing him as a visionary leader with a wealth of ideas to transform the country.
The vice president made the remarks at a town hall meeting organized by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) at the State House in Abuja on Friday.
The Vice President acknowledged the concerns raised about President Tinubu’s health after he missed a step during the Democracy Day celebration last month. However, he said that the President’s ability to lead the country effectively is not determined by his physical strength, but by his mental acuity and leadership skills.
Shettima urged Nigerians to rally behind President Tinubu.
He said, “We are not preparing for the Olympics, but building an institution that thrives on superior ideas.” He added, “The hallmark of true leadership is not the ability to lift a bag of cement, but the capacity to come up with robust ideas to solve a nation’s problems.”
The Vice President also commented on the current economic challenges facing the country. According to him, the Tinubu administration has the capacity to reverse the trend.
He said, “We have never had it so good in terms of leadership. The President means well for the nation and is imbued with the skill set to drive change and progress in this country.”
