VIDEO: Real reason Odumeje was slapped – Govt official

Ejimofor Opara, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, on Friday shared a video showing that before security agents ‘slapped’ Prophet Chukwuemeka Odumeje, founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry Onitsha, there was “extensive overtures of peace which Odumeje roundly declined”.

POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that a chaotic scene was recorded at Nwagene, Onitsha, as Anambra state government carried out the demolition of the security post at the front of Odumeje church.

Prophet Odumeje was seen in a clip shared online, trying to stop the demolition which started on Thursday morning, July 7.

He was however pushed away by security operatives, slapped, and stopped from accessing the building.

But Opara blamed Odumeje for not being law-abiding.

“Whenever there are alternative facts to a story, it is only mature to wait for it before drawing any conclusion. Of course the task of yesterday was an emotive one, both on the side of Odumeje and the government. For Odumeje who had been given over a 3 month notice, all he could see was “the destruction of his property” nothing more. He cares less how his own happiness brings about enormous pains to his immediate environment and the State at large,” Opara wrote on his known Facebook page.

“On the part of the government, public service must be about public good. Little wonder the crafters of the land use act coined the phrase “overriding public interest”. This video clearly shows Odumeje been ordered to get off the bulldozer where he earlier mounted to hurt the operator and obstruct a legitimate government assignment.

“Before the slap, was extensive overtures of peace which Odumeje roundly declined (see the video). His argument was, how could government destroy “his property in Igbo land”. Does this mean Igbo land is a place where lawlessness reigns and anyhowness permissible?
“Ụmụnne m, to make this omlet, we must break eggs. If Onitsha doesn’t work, it will be very difficult for Anambra to work. We are bulldozing our way back to the river Niger. If your house is on the drainage line, do well to remove it.

“May Anambra continue to succeed!”
