A student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Subair Enitan, who embarked on a hand-washing marathon to set a new Guinness World Record, has reacted to reports that she was hospitalized after the exercise.
Enitan commenced the marathon on Friday, 24 November and surpassed her initial plan of 50 hours by washing for 58 hours.
However, a viral video showing Enitan lying on a hospital bed with white wrinkled hands surfaced on social media on Sunday evening.
Enitan denied reports alleging she landed in a hospital as a result of exhaustion and adverse reaction of the detergents used during her attempt to break a new Guinness record.
In a new video posted via the official X handle for the marathon, Enitan appreciated her school, supporters and sponsors while clarifying that she did end up in the hospital.
“First of all, I’m sure you can see I’m very much okay. So to the people trending saying I landed in the hospital. I didn’t land in the hospital and these are my hands,” she said.
“I am better. I’ve been in my house with family members, my team members. I’ve been sleeping. I woke up this evening to take pictures. I have been very fine. Just dey play o. Nothing is wrong with me.”
The Guinness World Record is yet to confirm Enitan’s record-breaking attempt.
