We extend open invitation to Obasanjo for tour of rehabilitated refineries – NNPC

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has been invited by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to take a tour of its Port Harcourt refinery.

The invitation to Obasanjo follows his recent comment on the rehabilitation the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries.

Obasanjo had earlier stated Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) suggesting the refinery would not function effectively.

The former President also alleged that the NNPC has been misleading Nigerians by claiming that its refineries are operational.

However, in a statement issued on Thursday, January 2, by NNPC’s spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, the company urged Obasanjo to visit the refineries for himself.

“Furthermore, we extend an open invitation to President Obasanjo for a tour of the rehabilitated refineries to witness firsthand the progress made under the new NNPC Limited.

“We invite our esteemed former president to join us in this effort as we continue to deliver energy security for our nation and provide tangible benefits to Nigerians,” Soneye said.

He also added that the wisdom and experience so far gathered by the former President in his lifetime are invaluable and will be welcomed by the NNPCL.

He said: “As part of this transformation, NNPC Limited has gone beyond oil and gas to become an integrated energy company.

“One of our notable achievements is the complete rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PhRC) and Warri Refinery,” he added.
