The autobiography recently presented by a former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida has continued to trend with mixed reactions.
While many Nigerians have commended the retired military General for his courage to open up on activities relating to his time in service and Head of State, others have condemned the timing of his confession.
For some who reacted to his revelation on the June 12, 1993, presidential election, it is unfortunate that Babangida waited for 32 years before confessing to the role he played in the annulment of Nigeria’s most credible poll.
In his book, ‘A Journey n Service’, Babangida described the 1993 election as the most credible, free and fair election Nigeria ever had at that time.
He also stated that he regretted the annulment of the election but blamed the late General Sani Abacha – who served as Nigeria’s military Head of State between November 17, 1993, and June 8, 1998, when he died – for the annulment.
However, in an obvious reaction to the details of Babangida’s memoir, Gumsu Abacha, the late General’s daughter took to X, a micro-blogging social media platform, to express herself.
She posted a cryptic message on her verified X account.
The message reads, “Weakling”.
In another post on her Instagram story shortly after IBB’s memoir went public, Gumsu also put up a love emoji.
