We’ll pay N70,000 minimum wage – Gombe deputy governor assures workers

Workers in Gombe State have been assured that they would soon start receiving the N70,000 minimum wage newly approved by the Federal Government.

This disclosure was made to the civil servants in the state by the Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Manassah Jatau, on Sunday, August 25.

Jatau, who served as the Chairman of the Gombe State’s Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage negotiation, said they are currently carrying out finishing touches to the details.

The Deputy Governor who was represented by the Gombe State’s Head of Service, Ahmed Abdullahi, the state governor is committed to giving civil servants in the state the best welfare services.

He said, “Gov. Inuwa Yahaya is fully determined to pay the minimum wage. He is one governor that believes that the new minimum wage is a necessity.”

He also noted that workers in the state would continue to receive N10,000 wage award until the minimum wage is implemented.

He added, “Once we reach an agreement (on the new minimum wage), the implementation will begin and the N10,000 palliative will stop.”.
