Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has said he is committed to protecting the reputation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during the PDP North-East Zonal Caucus meeting in Bauchi, Mohammed said that he and other party members are dedicated to upholding the party’s integrity.
The governor, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, revealed that party leaders from the zone had met with the reconciliation committee set up by the National Working Committee (NWC). He noted that the zone has been recognized as having the least division and rancour.
Mohammed stressed that the meeting agreed on the zone’s unity and focus, with members working to ensure they don’t bring shame to the party.
“We bring different projects and programmes that will have a direct bearing on the aspirations of our people,” he said. “We are loyal to the zone and our various chapters, including those without a governor, and we will continue to do that.”
One of the other governors in the zone, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, described the reconciliation committee as timely, given the party’s lingering problems.
Fintiri emphasized that collective efforts are necessary for the party to reclaim its leadership position. He urged aggrieved members to reconcile and move forward, noting that the party’s unity is crucial for its success.
Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chairman of the committee, also towed the governors’ direction. He expressed the party’s readiness to address its challenges and reposition itself for the 2027 general election.
