The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has said it would not be part of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s effort to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
During a world press conference on Thursday, Atiku called for a coalition of oppositions to wrestle power from Tinubu.
He specifically called on the NNPP presidential candidate, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to join him in his quest.
But, according to the NNPP, it is not in court and doesn’t want to be an interloper in the PDP’s presidential candidate’s case.
At a press conference yesterday, the acting deputy national chairman of the NNPP, Prince Nwaeze Onu, said they won’t be part of Atiku despite the call.
His words:
“We are not in court. We love the country. We will not engage in anything that does not concern us. We are only focused on the things that are happening at the level of our party.”
Speaking on the crisis in the party, Onu said: “Our advice to the outsiders fighting the party to steer clear and stop meddling in the internal affairs of NNPP.
“Let me at this juncture thank INEC for their commitment to the growth of democracy in our country and also for their support to NNPP.”
