The spokesperson of the Bola Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council in the southeast region, Josef Onoh has said that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi welcoming the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, to the Michael Okpara Government House, Enugu State is a good sign for the ruling party.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in the midst of the crisis that has rocked the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which birthed the ‘G5’ (aggrieved five governors of the party), Ugwuanyi welcomed Tinubu to Enugu on Wednesday as the APC flag-bearer took his rally to the southeast state.
“Governor Ugwuanyi became the first opposition Governor that Asiwaju honoured with a courtesy call and it showed the respect and love that Asiwaju has for Enugu,” Vanguard quotes Onoh as saying.
This newspaper reports that the other G5 members are Governor Samuel Ortom (Benue), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State).
All said they are fighting for equity and fairness and would not openly support their party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, until the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, steps down. Their grouse is that two northerners cannot hold on to two of the most important positions in the PDP.
