The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, has been confirmed dead.
POLITICS NIGERIA understands that Ayilara died in the early of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
Sources close to the family said the senior police officer underwent a prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to the cold hands of death on Thursday due to some complications.
“We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother and family, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara is dead,” the family member said.
Ayilara is scheduled to be buried on Thursday according to Islamic rites.
