Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari must listen to the request made by some Nigerians to restructure the country.
Speaking on Thursday in an interview on Channels Television, the controversial governor disclosed that President Buhari risked “setting the country on fire” if he does not attend to the request. Wike also noted that it will be very bad for Nigeria and its leadership if none of the demands are met before the tenure of President Buhari expires.
Wike advised the President to show good leadership by listening to the demands of the people. The governors opined that political leadership is very key and also having the political will to implement the demands of the people is very important.
He said the government may not necessarily implement all of the demands but the people should see that one or two of the demands are met before 2023.
Wike disclosed that the demands made by Governors and South-South leaders during a meeting with the presidential delegation on Tuesday are realistic and can be fulfilled by the federal government. The governor asked the President to take this opportunity now and implement some of these requests.
