Former Senator representing Kaduna central, Shehu Sani has revealed why Coronavirus is difficult to contain across the world.
Mr Sani is the President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria – and the Chairman of Hand-in-Hand, Africa. He was also a leading figure in the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria.
In a tweet on his Twitter page on Monday, the former lawmaker said that the world must start investing in the health sector and not in the defence sector.
He wrote: “The World must learn from the tragic experience of this pandemic or would be doomed the next time; Countries that allocate and spends billions in defence & peanuts on health must now reset to include viruses as one of its potential ‘foreign enemies’ or national security threats.
“Most of the countries lifting the Lockdown restrictions are not doing so because the virus has been literally defeated, but because the economy is crumbling and people & businesses are becoming bankrupt. This experience elevated livelihoods to the same level of importance as life.”
