Why FG listened to Nigerians during #HungerProtest – Minister opens up

Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, has said that the Federal Government listened to the cries of the youths during the nationwide protests which took place between August 1 and 10.

Speaking at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group National Economic Dialogue on Nigeria’s Economic Future: 25 Years of Democracy and Beyond”, Bagudu said the protests forced the FG to listen to Nigerians’ yearnings.

He noted President Bola Tinubu has never been interested in dwelling on past mistakes of past administrations and for this reason, he has always been focused on getting the ball rolling.

According to the minister, the present administration under the leadership of President Tinubu is putting efforts into ensuring an improvement of Nigeria’s fortunes.

He said, “We have learnt that even the current protests have made us listen more. Whatever we are doing, we have taken the message that we need to do more, we need to do better, and we need to do it in a hurry.”

“President Bola Tinubu has been very reluctant to reflect on the past and blame anybody, but the net effect is that despite efforts by previous administrations, especially in the last 25 years, we are not where we want to be,” Bagudu said.
