Festus Keyamo, a top member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the minister of state for labour, has said that late legal luminary, Gani Fawehinmi, “will be very proud of where I stand today.”
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Keyamo said his participation in partisan politics should not be a surprise to anybody because his former boss, Fawehinmi (of blessed memory) also supported President Muhammadu Buhari.
The minister said this on Political Paradigm, a Channels Television programme, on Tuesday. The programme was monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA.
Keyamo, who doubles as spokesman of the Bola Tinubu Campaign Council, explained: “Gani Fawehinmi was one of the greatest supporters of Buhari. He was a staunch, unrepentant supporter of Buhari. And he endorsed him for president in 2007. So, he’ll be very proud of where I stand today.”
Ughelli Delta-born Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), used to be a human rights activist.
In April 2018, Keyamo was appointed as the director of Strategic Communications for the 2019 re-election bid of President Buhari. Today, he speaks for APC presidential candidate, Tinubu.
