Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Friday said he does not yet agree with the Federal Government’s conclusion that the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) is behind the terrorist attack on St.Francis Catholic church in Owo town.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Akeredolu said this during a zoom interaction with a Swiss-based Christian human rights Organisation, Christian Solidarity International (CSI).
Recall that Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola had revealed at the Presidential Villa that the country’s security agencies have linked ISWAP terrorists with Sunday’s attack.
“ISWAP, wanting attention, are suspected to be behind the attack at the church in Owo,” Aregbesola disclosed at a joint press conference with the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
“The statement is too hasty,” Governor Akeredolu replied.
According to him, ISWAP would have claimed responsibility had they been behind the attack.
“I take their conclusion with a pinch of salt. ISWAP doesn’t hide its attacks. If they have done it, they would have owned up. We are yet to know and our security people are still on their trail.”
I’m just helpless, is the Nigerian government attempting to make people believe that ISWAP are licensed to kill?
