Why Igbo people must tell their stories – Peter Obi

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has called on the Igbo people to endeavour to tell stories of their history, culture and heritage.

Obi made the call while speaking at the unveiling of a compendium of Igbo heritage, events and achievers, titled, ’Igbo Book of Records’, by journalists Sam Nwanze and Mike Ubani.

Represented by his media aide, Valentine Obienyem, the former Anambra State governor said the Igbo people are in a better position than anyone to tell their stories.

According to Obi, having such a capacity helps the people of the Southeast region to define their future.

Describing the new book as a masterpiece, Obi said such work goes beyond tradition, culture and the way of life of Ndigbo to showcase their rise to greatness through hard work.

Also condemning the growing acceptance of ‘the fast lane’ in society, Obi said the book is a renaissance of the Igbo nation.

His words, “It is entirely a reinsurance of Igbo nation. The authors have done a great thing for the Igbo race, now the Igbos have a book of records.”

He also urged Ndigbo to remain committed to being good ambassadors of the Igbo heritage by staying true to their identity of integrity and love for one another.
