Aloy Ejimakor, lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Sunday said Rabiu Kwankwaso, presidential flagbearer of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) linking the former Anambra State governor to IPOB is a plus for Obi “because IPOB is quietly admired across the entire Nigeria”.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Obi is one of the frontline presidential candidates in the 2023 election, and has a massive following online. On the other hand, IPOB is considered a terrorist organisation in Nigeria.
“Kwankwaso & others linking @PeterObi to IPOB is actually a plus for Obi because, despite its proscription, IPOB is quietly admired across ENTIRE Nigeria by the same millions that are called #Obidient,” Ejimakor wrote on his known Twitter handle.
Meanwhile, Obi has said that he would not “victimise or witch hunt” previous government if elected into office in the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking with journalists after unveiling Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate for the poll, Obi said he is only interested in blocking leakages and moving the country forward.
“As for probing the past government, let me tell you: you see me argue that you can’t close your shop and be chasing thieves, those who only look at yesterday and today will miss tomorrow. God did not give us eyes at the back, mine is to look forward,” he said.
