Why LCC suspended Lekki-Ikoyi toll collection

The Lekki Concession Company (LCC) Limited, operators of the Ikoyi Link Bridge in Lagos State, has suspended the toll collection on the bridge.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that toll payment collection was billed to recommence on Friday. This newspaper had reported how there was heavy security presence at the Lekki-Ikoyi Tollgate.

Announcing the suspension of toll collection, LCC Managing Director, Yomi Omomuwasan, said in a statement on Friday night that the company needs to make further consultations with key stakeholders in Eti-Osa, Lekki. A new date will be announced thereafter.

“As a responsible organization, we must take full cognizance of everyone within the axis. Therefore, we want to continue with the ongoing engagements with our stakeholders,” Omomuwasan said.

“The preparatory operations to resume tolling on the Bridge have been smooth so far, and we are grateful to all the key stakeholders for their cooperation. The planned commencement of toll collection has now been postponed, allowing more of our customers to register for the electronic toll devices to enable seamless passages at the toll plaza.”
