The management of late Afrobeats singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has addressed concerns surrounding the delay in his autopsy results.
In a statement posted on the singer’s official Instagram page, they clarified that while the Nigerian Police conducted the autopsy, the final report is pending the arrival of results from samples sent abroad, which “will take a couple of months before they are shared.”
“We understand the frustration and desire for answers,” the statement read. “However, we want to emphasize that nothing can bring Imole back. Our focus remains on cooperating fully with the authorities and ensuring all parties involved receive the clarity and closure they need.”
The management stressed their commitment to transparency and preventing misinformation.
Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023, under unclear circumstances, prompted a public outcry and police investigation. On September 21, the Lagos Police Command confirmed the exhumation of his remains for autopsy. The arrest of the nurse accused of administering a fatal injection to the singer was also announced.
Initially, a 19-member police committee was formed to conduct a swift investigation within two weeks, which included exhumation, autopsy, scene examination, medical reports, and witness interviews. However, the need for international testing led to an extension of the timeframe.
