Why Nigeria should not treat Simon Ekpa with levity – Adamu Garba

Ex-presidential aspirant of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, on Friday said Nigeria should unite against the self-acclaimed factional leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Njoku Ekpa.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Garba, Ekpa could turn out to be “more violent” than his mentor, Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu, the ‘founder’ of IPOB, is being detained in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja following his arrest in Kenya in June 2021.

The APC chieftain asked Nigerians to, out of ‘patriotism’, “unite and de-platform Ekpa”.

“As Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB is like Mohammed Yusuf of Boko Haram, so is Simon Ekpa of IPOB, who is like Abubakar Shekau of Boko Haram. Oftentimes, second in commands are more violent.

“We shouldn’t treat this Ekpa guy with lavity [sic].

“As a patriotic duty, we should unite and deplatform Ekpa,” Garba wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
