Why Nigerians must discourage politicians’ medical tourism – Banire

Former National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muiz Banire, has joined calls to curb medical tourism, especially among politicians, to improve access to quality health care in Nigeria.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Banire said it is time to fix the nation’s health care system to the benefit of the common man and the economy.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) while writing on his known Twitter handle on Sunday said the practice of public office holders travelling abroad to seek treatment is not good for the country and must stop.

“On medical tourism. Again I believe we must discourage this, particularly on the part of public officials.

“If they cannot develop for us health facilities capable of treating us all, then they should keep on taking the gamble with us.

“I believe that this must be made a campaign issue immediately and ultimately a subject of a law.

“We need to force our leaders to be responsible and stop being reckless. Once again, happy new year,” Banire wrote.
