Deji Adeyanju, a former Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday said Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), “disregarding valid points” made by Rabiu Kwankwaso has shown that he is “unserious, and only interested in popularity contest”.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Kwankwaso, a former Governor of Kano State and Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), had explained why he cannot be Obi’s running mate in the 2023 general election.
Kwankwaso, who was also a former senator and one-time Minister of Defence, said that it will be difficult for the Northern voters to vote for a presidential candidate from the South-East because they are not comfortable with most of the things happening in the South, especially in the South East.
Appearing as a guest on Arise TV on Wednesday morning, Obi spoke on his unsuccessful merger talks with Kwankwaso and the NNPP.
He said he prefers a younger running mate and is not interested in ‘recycling old hands’.
Reacting, Adeyanju wrote on his social media pages: “Peter Obi is beginning to sound like a motivational speaker. He should open a motivational school. Not ready to face reality or win. Just having fun & enjoying the fame. Disregarding valid points made by Kwankwaso has shown he’s unserious & only interested in popularity contest.”
