Former governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi, has revealed that despite recent anti-Christian comments, Nasir El-Rufai will play a major role in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Umahi made the revelation during an interview on Arise Television on Friday.
The politician was asked if Tinubu will distance himself from the former Kaduna governor who was recently captured in a video bragging about how Muslims are leading the affairs of the country.
Responding to the question, Umahi, who is senator-elect on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stressed Tinubu will not distance himself from people who worked for his victory during the election.
He insisted that El-Rufai will play a major role in Tinubu’s administration because the president rewards loyalty.
“So be assured that Mr President is not going to leave out people like El-Rufai and the rest of us who worked very hard for him,” Umahi said.
“You can see his track records. He doesn’t betray anybody. So be very much assured that my good friend El-Rufai is going to play a major role.
“I’m not speaking for Mr President, but I’m speaking bearing in mind the character of him I know too well,” he added
Politics Nigeria recalls that El-Rufai was recently caught on camera saying that the Muslim-Muslim ticket which brought President Tinubu to power was for religious dominance against Christian faith in the country.
